"The biggest mistake I made [as a parent] is the one that most of us make. I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of my three children sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages six, four, and one. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less”(Author Anna Quindlen ,Loud and Clear [2004], 10–11).

Can you believe it?
My Ian. 1 year + some. He joined nursery this week. Loved every minute of it. What do moms do when they don't have any children to chase after during church?
This week Ian's big thing is doing anything his big brother does. Yesterday Ty was fussin' at me in the kitchen and Ian came up and started fussin' too. I knelt down and looked in his eyes(which were smiling as he fussed) and asked "What are you fussin' for?". He smiled and giggled as he skipped- galloped out of the kitchen. I have also recently realized that it is just much easier to buy everything in twos. Heaven forbid anyone should have to share.
It is amazing how fast they grow. A baby one minute and in a blink he's walking, talking and getting into all sorts of mischief. Where did the time go?

Well so much for wondering what to do during Sunday School and Relief Society. Last Sunday I spent the time walking the halls with a very, very ,very upset son. Apparently, Ian's first time in nursery was just a fluke. He did not want anything to do with nursery this last Sunday. Not only that but if we even mention nursery to him he shakes is head and says "uuuuh, uuuuh, no". This Sunday I took him in and no matter how many times I told him I would not leave he cried and clung to me. By the end of nursery he ventured away about two feet or so to play but he was continually checking to see if I was still there. I have a feeling I will be in the Nursery for awhile. I feel so sad for Ian it is hard to do new things. I was not able to experience this transition with Ty. He went into nursery when I was on bed rest with Ian. The letting go is hard. I remember reading that most relationships work for togetherness. Motherhood is the only relationship that strives for separation. I have come to understand that each year bring more and more emotional and physical distance between my children and I . From what I understand it never gets easy from Birth to nursery, Kindergarten to High School and next thing you know they are going off on a mission a world away. I need to remember they are my babies and find healthy ways to hold on to them a little bit more each day.
