It has been a rough couple of weeks at the Johnson house. We have had some nasty sickies off and on, plumbing problems and the general ho-hums.
However today I learned the importance of simple pleasures.
Daddy's birthday is coming up so we left him behind on a secret mission to find the "bestest" birthday present. The boys were so so careful about what they picked. We had great discussion about needs and wants--. We talked about how sometimes when money is tight we need to get the things we need and save the fun things we want for later. I was feeling pretty good about the discussion. Both boys mulled it over for a few minutes and then Ian said "Mom, I think sometimes we should get both. Especially if it is birthday."
I have to agree.
After shopping for both we decided to reward our selves for the great birthday choices and stopped at the Target snack bar We split a popcorn and drink. You would have thought I gave the boys the moon--it is amazing how $1.50 can make a child's day. The boys were in heaven. What a treat.
Yes Ian, sometimes we should get both.
